Diane Katims earned her RN degree from Lasell College in Newton, Massachusetts in 1981. She then worked as a staff nurse in the medical-surgical unit of Newton-Wellesley Hospital from 1981 until 1982.
Diane put her nursing career on hold in 1982 to start a family and ultimately raised three children. For the next 22 years, she maintained her nursing license and knowledge base by attending many continuing education courses covering such topics as women’s health, diabetes, nutrition, and obesity.
While her first child was very young, Diane developed an interest in cooking and especially in modifying popular recipes to make them more healthful. Since then, she has created and prepared countless nutritious dishes to the delight of her family and friends. She has a special interest in working with lean proteins, vegetables and seasonings while avoiding sugars, starches, salt and unhealthy fats.
In 2004, Diane joined Dr. Sloan's weight loss center in Boca Raton as office coordinator and shortly thereafter was promoted to weight loss advisor. In this capacity, she educates and counsels patients, supporting their efforts to follow their food and activity plans. She particularly enjoys teaching patients how to prepare healthful dishes, order in restaurants, and exercise within the confines of their abilities.
Diane is a true role model for anyone who aspires to observe a healthy lifestyle. She eats very healthfully and exercises vigorously every day. She is as enthusiastic about advising patients as she is about following her own advice!
